o promote devotion to "ST. GERARD MAJELLA, C.SS.R." Redemptorist Brother and Saint. The Guild consists of members dedicated to St. Gerard who pray for his intercession and whose members are included in a Mass offered every Monday of the year for their benefit.

St. Gerard Majella was born in 1726 and died in 1755 but during his short life many mystical experiences and miracles were attributed to him. When he was but four years old it was claimed that a statue of Our Lady of Grace with the Infant Jesus came to life and that Jesus played with St. Gerard. It was from this love of Mother Mary and the Infant Jesus that Gerard developed a love for all mothers and children and had many wonders wrought for little children and for mothers. Out of this love he became known as 'The Mothers’ Saint' and is still invoked as such today.

Because of the difficulties he experienced in following his own vocation, he is invoked as a patron of vocations. Because of his gift of reading the consciences of others, he is hailed as a patron of a good confession. But above all, because of the special protection he gives to expectant mothers and to sick children, he is acclaimed throughout the world as the patron of mothers - 'The Mothers' Saint!
